    Enhances the effect of...

    http://www.ffxiclopedia.org is by far the best database on the web now when it comes to searching for items, etc because it's maintained by the players. However, one area where it's currently severely lacking is in precise descriptions of the mystery effects on all the items. I've compiled a list of all of these items and effects here, if anyone can tell me precisely how it works, I plan to go through and fix all of their item descriptions so that it contains this information. If it corresponds exactly to "Such and Such Trait+5", say that. If it is something like "Grants an extra 6 accuracy when you use the JA", say that. If it increases the duration of an effect, say that. etc etc. Also I know that for the most part AF and AF+1 effects are the same, but I don't know 100% if this is true across the board, so I left those in.

    The only ones I know offhand, are Myochin Kabuto and Saotome Kote. Both inrease TP gained by Meditate by 20-40, capping at 160 TP gained from a single Meditate I believe.

    Warrior's Calligae reduce the defense loss of berserk from 25% to 15%

    Warrior's Lorica reduces the loss of evasion from aggressor.

    Warrior's Mask increases the duration of warcry from 30 seconds to 45
    (actually very good if you have savagery capped, as you can easily get 2 weapon skills off in that time)

    Abyss Sollerets reduce the loss of defense when last resort is active from 15% to... I'll find out <_< gimme a sec.

    All of the black/onyx pieces enhance the duration of absorb spells.

    Valor Surcoat make it so that when you use cover, 20% (I think) of the damage you take (I assume when directed at another and the cover effect is actually applied to them) gets converted to MP.

    Chaos Burgeonet enhances the damage of souleater from 10% of your HP converted to damage to 12% as well as giving a +20 accuracy bonus when souleater is active.

    Barone Cosciales and Corazza both give an extra 2 TP each when you use jump, regardless of whether you connect or do damage.

    Drachen Armet +1 enhance spirit link effect reduces the HP loss when you use it.

    Temple Cyclas grant an extra 1x VIT modifier to chakra (raising it from 2x VIT to 3X VIT) as well as removes paralyze (assuming it itself doesnt get paralyzed).

    Melee gloves grant an extra .6 modifier to chakra (3.6x VIT with both enhancements) as well as removing (confirmed aurik, it is disease)

    Saotome Haidate, when worn while third eye is active, has a very high chance to turn the anticipation into a counter (Does not apply to enemy weapon skills)

    It ranges, guaranteed to get at least 20 from each item though.

    They both give an extra 1-2 tics of meditate each (at 20 TP a tic) but it caps at 3 extra tics with both combined.

    Hunter's Bracers - Enhances "Barrage" Effect, Enhances "Shadowbind" Effect

    These are turned around, +1 enhances barrage, NQ doesn't. The Enhances Barrage adds a extra shot and the enhances shadowbind just gives it about 25 seconds more duration.

    I would say randomness, but I've seen 80tp meditate too (very rarely tho). Maybe it was planned, but it might just be a timer issue depending when you uses the skill or something. Dunno.

    In no real order:

    Warrior's Calligae - Reduces defense penalty on Berserk to 15%
    Warrior's Lorica - Reduces evasion penalty on Aggressor
    Warrior's Mask - Increases Warcry duration by 15 seconds (I could be off on this one)
    Fighter's Calligae/+1 - 1-2% (depending on source) double attack increase.
    Koga Hakama/Ninja Chainmail - 5% DW Delay Reduction (miiight be a bit off on this too, I'm not a NIN)
    Drachen Armet - Wyvern will use the "right" elemental breath more often, and will cure at 50% HP instead of 33%
    Wyrm Armet - Wyvern's breaths are stronger (Do more dmg, cure more HP)
    Suppanomimi - 4% delay reduction on dual wield
    Warlock's Chapeau/+1 - 10% casting speed bonus and 5% recast reduction
    Duelist's Tabard - Same as Warlock's Chapeau (I think... I don't have this piece to test)

    What's really going on with Melee Gaiters? In the KI forums I've read two equally well-tested/thought-out arguments...that are totally at odds.

    I've seen no real clear evidence of anything. The currently favoured theory is that they increase your accuracy during the accuracy check for counter while counterstance is active. It's tough to deduce.

    X's knife increases critical hit damage (be it melee swing or Sneak attack/Assassin Trick attack) by raising PDIF by 0.3, net gain vs. too weak mobs of approx. 12% extra crit damage. Does not appear to work when equipped offhand (for mainhand hits).

    Anything RDM only that enhances Fast Cast is 5% recast speed and 10% cast time[Hat, Body] Anything else IIRC is 2% recast speed and 3% cast time. [Loq, Rostrum, Homam, Mantle]


    +1 version of RDM AF Hat do not give any faster casting, and I assume the same for AFv2 Body. Waste of Coins aside from White Border.

    Hitting an 80% meditate is a glitch that rarely happens when you change gear right after using meditate.

    I think the 80% meditate is the same sort of glitch that rarely causes a 24% TP return from sleep pot/opo opo necklace.

    It's a timing issue, I've seen my invigorate (10hp/tic x 8 tics) return only 70hp once.

    But don't most/if not all SAMs change gear right after Meditate, since they just swap-in Myochin Kabuto?
