    Haste Cap

    It's fucked, pretty badly.



    Took a DRK friend with a Rune Chopper and a WHM to a marid (I was on BRD) Soul Voice Marched him and watched him attack at like 50% of the rate he used to attack at.





    Didn't see any recent thread about it so I thought I'd make one ... anyone have their experiences or start doing the math to figure the cap?

    SE's official comment: A maximum limit has been placed on the total amount of bonus attack speed that can be gained from a combination of spells, abilities, and items.

    So... we need to check:
    What the gear haste cap is,
    What the magic cap is,
    If there's a different 'total' haste cap, and
    If there is an 'attack speed' cap that affects Martial Arts / Dual Wield bonuses & gear.

    So, ~80% haste cap if he attack 50% slower?

    What I posted in the other thread:

    I did a quick test on haste (figuring 20% as opposed to 25% should be noticeable).
    11 attack rounds using a stopwatch (10 effective delays). MNK/DRG + destroyers with up to 30% equipment haste.

    30% haste: 44.0 seconds => 264 dly (expect 243 dly w/o haste cap)
    25% haste: 43.9 seconds => 263 dly (expect 261)
    22% haste: 46.1 seconds => 276 dly (expect 271)
    20% haste: 47.2 seconds => 283 dly (expect 278)

    Granted there's potential for lots of error here but so far to me seems like cap is still 25%.

    Hundred Fists brings you to the "attack speed cap" (w/o the privious hasso/desperate blows additions), and that is like 85% (I dont remember the number). So one could assume that the new haste cap is the previous Hundred Fists speed.

    From the number of hits, it looks like it is capped at 80% now.

    Assuming you had Haste spell and 26% haste gear in addition to those SV Marches, I can do some math to get a rough estimate on what appears to be the new cap. I'll edit this post in a few minutes with math.

    EDIT: 16 swings including the extra not on screen. This is over about 28-29 seconds, or about 1680-1740 delay. I'll just call it 1700 delay, divided by 16 swings... Assuming there were no DA/TA procs, this brings your delay to 106.25. Or about the delay you would have with 79% haste... Assuming room for error it's probably like 80% haste cap.

    is mercurial kris still a viable zerging weapon, assuming chopper is nerfed since it's shit without 90%+ haste?

    500 x (1 - 80%) = 100 delay

    60/100 = 0.6 hit per sec

    0.6 hit per sec x 30 sec = 18 hits in 30 sec.

    From the screenshot, it seems right consider it is only 27 sec.

    2h zergs will be horrible now.

    And it's hard to say which is good until we know whether there is an 80% hard cap, or if they capped different gear/magic/other haste values so it caps at 80%.

    Meaning you can now use homam body + JSE leg + fortitude axe for a decent zerg still. Estimated hits in 30 sec with max TA and DA setup is about 27-30 hits compare to the approximate 50 hit prenerf. Oh well....

    I believe it is a hard cap that doesn't limit either gear, magic, or JA haste. Meaning you can swap out 13.3% haste out of your equips when zerging.

    So that's Chopper, eh Art? Kewl how timestamps seem pretty useful in this case.

    If the previous cap was 93.xx%, say 93.75%, you'd have 50% of that attack speed at 87.5% haste.

    Regarding hundred fists, Neo, if you're talking capped equip + magic haste, you're looking at slighly over 68%. So if the cap is 80% as roughly speculated, hasso is still ship-shape, 3/3 desperate blows is kinda "lossy", and hasso+desperate would be just a waste.
