A group of computer hackers said yesterday they accessed a Yahoo! e-mail account of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, publishing some of her private communications to expose what appeared to be her use of a personal account for government business.

The hackers posted what they said were personal photos, the contents of several messages, the subject lines of dozens of e-mails and Palin's e-mail contact list on a site called WikiLeaks.org. That site claimed that it received the electronic files from a group identifying itself only as "Anonymous."

"At around midnight last night some members affiliated with the group gained access to governor Palin's email account, '[email protected]' and handed over the contents to the government sunshine site Wikileaks.org," said a message on the site.

Rick Davis, the campaign manager for Sen. John McCain, issued a statement Wednesday afternoon condemning the incident.

"This is a shocking invasion of the Governor's privacy and a violation of law," Davis said. "The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these e-mails will destroy them. We will have no further comment."

Government officials are supposed to use the .gov email addresses they're given for official business because they can be checked in case there's any hint of impropriety. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, has been accused of using these yahoo accounts for business to supposedly hide what she was doing. Now that they've been deleted she could also be accused of destroying evidence.

In addition to the previously mentioned stuff, she was asked to hand over the emails from the yahoo account but she withheld something like 1,100 of them citing executive privilege (a la Bush/Cheney) and continued to do so after it was found she was CCing her husbands email on those 1,100 withheld emails, thus not making it official state business and thus making her bullshit about executive privilege even more ridiculous

Cold feet? If there was really evidence of criminal behavior in there, he or she should have taken the bullet for the country and exposed her. We all know politicians are corrupt as hell, but to have tangible proof on top of the assumption is a reality check that would have done the country nothing but good. These fuckers want to run the country then they should be behaving the way politicians were meant to behave, and that is within the law, not outside of it.
