Default Wave-dashing, in MY brawl?

So ok, melee had the wave-dashing bug.. and apparently brawl has "smash-dashing(not yet completely coined.)"

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jKJ_RitVFIE

this could be awsome/bad.

Err, it's just C-Sticking up during a dash, hardly game breaking material and certainly not as much as wavedashing.

Pretty sure the concept was already known, but I don't think I've seen people go that far.

Short range is down just by hitting up on the C-stick while dashing, the other version (that I can only really do with Snake) involves up smashing during (or before more likely I haven't really gotten it down) before a dash attack.

edit: oh yeah, you don't have to use the C-stick, but it's easier and it might be easier to set your attack to the Z button.

olde

"hypen-smashing"

upsmash moves across the stage, in the shape of a hypen "-"

-------------------------- amazing? not really

edit

oops nevermind (lol saw end of the video.) Some of them are regular hypen smashes, the other one (that sheik and snake do idk, maybe its their particular physics that lend to their hypen smash? idk)

its some kind of MONSTER extended hypen smash. reading smashboards on how you do it

Hyphen smashing, some characters are a lot faster than ohers and as such over more ground in the same short dash, the sheik one was pretty sketchy but the rest wasnt so much.

Very cool, looks pretty simple, didn't know it was that drastic though, going to try it maybe this weekend or later this week.

Know how you know it's not that? There are moves that are charged without forward momentum loss.

I found the trick, though I've only been able to do it as Snake and Wolf so far. Couldn't get Shiek's to work.

Start dash, quickly C-Down then immediately press Z+Up (yes, Z, the grab button.) It's pretty nuts.

Then it's the mortar sliding trick and it works for multiple characters, the problem with it in application is that it has no defensive capability whatsoever as you need to lead with a whiffed dash attack to load the up smash. To do that you just dash attack and up smash within the first 3 frames of animation, it works on snake because his dash attack has 3 cancelable frames that can lead into his up smash which, yes, carry the momentum of his lunging dash attack.

Sorry, this is beyond hyphen smashing. Hyphen won't let you slide like that, no matter how many times you wanna try it.

Edit: Secondly, it doesn't work for every character. Smashboards has been back and forth about this for a while.

Edit dos: The closest thing it can be compared to right now is mortar sliding, since the mechanics are essentially the same, but available to more than just Snake.

Yeah I spent last night doing the mortar slide with wolf and it's the same deal, it's most ridiculous with wolf due to the nature of his up smash but it only seems to work with the characters in the video

Nah, Lucas, ZSS, CF and Ike all seem to be able to do it. The distance change is so minimal it's not worth bothering, though.

So far G&W people have said they can't, while I seem to be having problems with getting PSS to do it.

Even if the distance change is minimal on a character like zelda it would be worth doing though, stupidass up smash range.

Video's down, don't suppose there's another example of it? I could only find a real short video with Ike doing up-smash that looked even remotely close to what most of you are describing, sounds interesting though.

Amen.

Zelda: You think you can DI peach?
Peach: But of course, bitch.
Zelda: HAHHAHAHA FUCK YOU I SUCKED YOU IN AGAIN FROM AGES AWAY!
Peach: God I hate this bitch.

Its kind of like peach's melee dsmash, only head-high (and invisible areas above goddamnit.) Stupid zelda and her nigh-unpunishable smashes

I was fooling around with it today but the lag with my friend made it close to impossible to get the timing consistent. I need someone non-laggy to fool around with. Snakes is especially fun haha.

My method (with snake anyways, haven't tried it with anyone else yet):

I have tap jump turned off btw; Dash, hit A to initiate dash attack, and then right away slide the control stick up and press A again (literally, you have to double tap A as fast as you can). Its sort of doing a hadouken movement going from left/right to up.

During the dash Z functions the same as A so you can free up your movements by having your trigger finger, if you hold the controller that way, to do the up smash out of the dash.

If you're talking about the "Snake Slide" I personally use the C-stick to do it because I find it faster. As soon as you hit the "A" button during the dash attack, just C-stick up. If you decide you wish to charge it, C-stick up and hold Z at the same time.

The only real use I've seen for this is Snake, Zero Suit Samus, and Zelda. Zelda is really scary at how good it is. :-/ I swear her Up Smash has to be the best in the game... Snake's, Marth's, and Fox's are all similarly good but not as good.

Zelda got buffed far too much in this game... she seems to have far too many advantages, especially in one vs. one combat,... she's this game's new Peach. For sure.
