Hello, I’m Suteki, a staff member at Vanatsu. This time we’re wrapped up in another mystery as I consider ways to seal those special abilities! First, it’s generally thought that when AV performs a 2-hour, you perform the 2-hour as well, and this will seal that same ability. I don’t think this assumption is wrong, but even if you execute this perfectly, there are times where the sealing is a success, and times where it fails. If there are some special circumstances involved here, I have no idea.

I’ve fought AV dozens of times, and the only ability I’ve seen sealed with any consistency is Call Wyvern. However, there was one day where, for the first time, sealing Call Wyvern failed. At that time, we happened to be using a different Dragoon than we usually do, so thinking there was a hidden clue behind this slip-up, I compared the two and noticed a big difference.

One had the Love Torque equipped and the other did not.

It was the thing that had the strongest connection to AV. From this clue, I had my hypothesis: Wearing a Sea Torque would make your attempt to seal 2-hours a success!



Now that we’ve established the theory of Sea Torques being the key to sealing AV’s abilities, we still have the issue of which jobs will equip the 7 different torques. This brings me to the connection with Jailer Weapons. Each job can only equip one of the available weapons. Furthermore, many of the combinations are not very practical and seem strange. In actuality, couldn’t this really be meant to correspond with the aforementioned torques? This would explain why Dragoon, which can equip Love Halbred, is able to succeed at sealing Call Wyvern while wearing the torque of the same name!

What would happen if a Black Mage wearing Prudence Torque attempts to seal Manafont?

Why is Puppetmaster able to equip Hope Staff? Out of all the jobs added after Rise of the Zilart, it is the only one able to equip one of the Jailer Weapons. What would happen if a Puppetmaster wearing Hope Torque attempted to seal AV? Could it be a weak point against “Bracelet Mode” … ?

So...using the two hour against the same two hour gives a chance to lock it...and maybe equipping a sea torque gives a greater chance to lock it...?

Actually I don't think I ever read people making sure people have the Torques, only weapons. Correct me if I am wrong.

Lies, I've seen 7 justice torques drop in the 60+ JoJs I've done!
While all of them have quit or been banned, I know mine will drop soon!

well. Speculations aside I'd like to see someone bring this mystery of how SE wants you to kill AV specifically. because apparently theres only one way to do it that is less than 2 hours from JoL's pop, and if you find another way, its totallypatched

Strangely, though it has surely been said, I do not think I've seen it tested.

I wouldn't say no evidence. He says they regularly locked call wyvern and then one day they didn't with only difference being the absence of torque drg. Might not work at all, but it's the first info on AV in a long time and it actually completely fits into the realm of possibility. My ls has a fair amount of torques, but won't be doing JoL again until next Tuesday.

It has been suggested and tried... sort of. People have fought AV with torques, people have tried to two hour to match his after the video came out. I don't think anybody has actually put the two together or have lived long enough to notice a random two hour that might be locked and realize it. Everyone just wanted to lock benediction and manafont and got frustrated when they couldn't. I doubt many blms and whms were wearing sea torques when they tried. A different two hour could easily have been locked and nobody noticed. Anyhow, it's worth a shot.

The PUP theory doesn't make much sense considering AV came before PUP.

Then again trying to make much sense out of AV seems silly, so it'll probably work.

Suteki, Barlog, Slayer... pretty much the entire lot of Priceless works for/contributes to Famitsu in one form or another. I'm just suprised they didn't come forward with this information sooner. Also, there is a rumor that they have a PW kill under their belt, but it's never been confirmed.

Not to mention, if the torque needed to lock corresponds to weapons, then it gets all screwy, with DRK needing fort torque, not justice torque, and other such weird things.
