[Rainesong]

In November 2008, we discovered an issue that allowed players to create multiple items for certain treasures and rewards in areas such as Salvage and Assault by exploiting the game system.

The issue was fixed during emergency maintenance on November 26, 2008. However, we discovered that some players had already exploited the issue and used it to gain additional items before it was addressed. We then investigated more than a year's worth of logs throughout all areas.

As a result of the investigation, approximately 400 players were temporarily suspended based on the evidence gathered. Approximately 550 players who committed more serious misconduct had their accounts banned.

We are working hard to ensure that these kinds of issues do not occur again in FINAL FANTASY XI. However, if you discover any problems with the game system, please submit a GM call or fill out the feedback e-mail form to report the problems to us, instead of exploiting or spreading the issue.

We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Was right in the middle of tanking tiamat and got LM-17'd good god, only used the salvage dupe once in my life, but cant moan, i did do something wrong i guess.

Oh and yes LM-17 is 72hour suspension

if they're going to ban for salvage duping, wonder how long until they do it for wall of justice, apradar in antlion enm, etc >.> seems like a slippery slope to me, they left that exploit around for over a year, kind of expect people to use it :/

The only thing is a lot of the people who duped came in here and almost boasted about it. Although I honestly think that only happened because so many other people were crying so much. I do kind of think it's retarded of SE to ban people for their flaw, but they did so with Barone bodies back in the day.

exploiting is exploiting, a ton of people bitched about the salvage one but i don't think many people expected actual bans for it >_> pretty sure they added a running processes check a while back but nobody reported getting busted by it yet.. just saying it's a slippery slope if they're banning for ingame glitches that don't adversely effect others(especially with how few people play nowadays compared to the times of the barone exploit.. the playerbase is constantly shrinking)
