For those JP account user, anyone here having the problem on changing their credit card? I'm keep getting UCS 60096 error twice, then followed by UCS 5011 since these two weeks.

Seems like the maintainance two days ago doesnt help

Its JP account. If I'm using JP client on NA account, I wouldn't able to login into account management in pol >.>

Im having the exact same problem here. I already installed POL on a different machine but the problem remains. Since you can enter anything as credit card information and still get 2 times the UCS-60096 and after that UCS-5110, I thought there might be a connection problem or some kind of windows prob.

Since the users in Japan dont seem to have this problem, I guess SE stopped allowing foreign credit cards on JP accounts or at least connections to the JP CC registration server from outside Japan. Connecting through a Japanese proxy server might help in this case, Ill try that later on.
You might as well try calling the Japanese support for help, but I wouldnt expect much from them.

If anyone knows a solution, please post.

Any intelligent answers ?

Ok big guy. Let's see how you would have handled the situation.

I was in japan, with a japanese wife, a job in a japanese office, and had a japanese credit card.

I bought the game when the game was not even in beta in North America.

I played the game when the game was not even in beta in North America.

Now I'm back in NA, had to move because I got divorced, something little 13 years old boys like you wouldn't know anything about, had restart my life and find a job here. Got new Credit Card since my Japanese one came to expiration, you know those little numbers below your CC number, that's an expiration date.

I need to change my CC info so I can continue playing.

Now genius, do you have any constructive suggestions about the problem I have ?

Well gee, if you actually lived in japan for that long, I would hope you can speak some japanese. If you can speak some japanese, maybe you can try calling jp customer support, for assistance with the jp client?

Has anyone tried to contact SE about this issue?

Failing that, has anyone tried to just use the client related to their location?

I'd also imagine you might be able to contact the company and get a new Japanese credit card? Maybe?

I do speak a little japanse, mostly day to day stuff. The reading is not bad either but the writing... heh. I was working for a group supporting IT for an english speaking customer so 100% of my work (about 12h a day) was in english... I know, my own fault.

I will contact S-E Japan on monday (they are closed right now) and I'll see what goes.

SephYuyX, I know NA CC worked on JP accounts before, is that an official change from S-E ? Did you talked to a SE rep ?

Sorry for being an ass btw fantasticdan, hard times for me and FFXI is kinda my window to escape reality from time to time

I spoke with a representative just now and they aren't aware of anything that would cause the problem but have escalated the investigation. I mentioned that I was now in America with an American Credit Card. They didn't seem to think there would be a problem with the charges.

(Watch them email me back and say oops sorry you need a jp cc now or something to that extent)

I was trying to change my CC info on my account, and it was not accepting my new card. Possibly a problem in general and not region specific?

I spoke with a representative again today who assured me that they had in no way restricted the payment of accounts with foreign credit cards. I explained to them that multiple people were having the problems, and that December 15th was the earliest date I could find for people having the error.

Maybe they messed up some server config? This poor guy seems as frustrated as I am and has now resorted to telling me to reset my hubs/routers/modems/etc.... which I might try tomorrow. orz

He gave me the port information so if anyone wants to see if using it helps anyone...:

PoL Servers
  ・TCP 25、80、110、443 および 50000~65535
  ・UDP 50000~65535

PlayStation 2 Windows Xbox 360

I tried connecting through a japanese proxy server, but the problem remains. Since japanese players dont seem to have this problem, my guess is that SE (un-)intentionally restricted connections to the CC update server. If you take a look at some taiwanese FFXI boards, youll see that the problem at first occured around end of November 2008.
The only solution for foreign players right now is to get a JCB credit card (might still work) or use webmoney. However to use webmoney, you need someone in Japan to buy it for you, since you cannot buy webmoney through the internet without a japanese credit card (foreign cards are blocked).

Forgot to mention: I sent a mail to the jp. support in japanese and explained the situation in detail. This was around 3 weeks ago and still no answer. I finally gave up playing again.

Well I posted this to another forum too and I sent an email to S-E. I'm waiting on news from S-E but a guy on the other forum was able to use WebMoney to pay for his account.

I'll keep you posted.

Ah, Ditto.

I live in Japan, have a Japanese CC.

- CC works on my original NA accounts.
- CC did NOT work on my JP account.
- Used Webmoney instead (bought the card from a local store where I live.)

There's got to be something wrong somewhere. -- I did notice that I had to wait awhile before trying to use the same CC for another account. Got rejected when I tried the first time, which was immediately after updating another POL account.

Ok my guide on how to use Webmoney.jp as payment option in the JP Playonline software is now done!!

I hope you can save your JP FFXI account using webmoney like I did.

- I know the guide is BIG and there is alot of text and my english is not the best but I did the best I could do to help others with a guide.

I speak no Japanese myself so it wasn't easy for me to learn how to use another form of payment option than CC.

And I wanted to try and cover everything so I know its a big guide with alot of text.

The guide can be found here on my website:

Hey, I was in the process of setting up webmoney by myself but the fact that I can read a little japanese was helping. However, I just read your site and I must say that you done very good

If you are in Midgard I would like to give you something to thank you for everybody here and at the other forum who would need to have this information to keep their accounts. If you do are in Migard please send me your character name in Private Message. My main is of course called "Altalus".

I also suggest that we sticky this guide to help future players with this problem.

I have my sister who study in japan called SE. However, they not even aware the problem occured, and they just keep tell her we enter wrong card info. End up she pissed and don't want to argue with them anymore.

I want to try web chat, but I had to find sometimes where my sister is online at the same time, so I don't have huge problem on communicating

Still no fix for the problem huh? The bank I use reissued my card a year early because of a possible security breakch (that's apparently four local banks now that have had this problem), and I just got the new one in the mail. I've never had a problem updating my card info before, and my old card was working just fine. I'm getting the same symptoms mentioned here. I imported at JP PS2 release and have spent quite a bit of time on my account to lose it now.

Has SE even admitted to the barrier yet?

I haven't had this problem, but I haven't changed my CC since I started playing almost 6 years ago. Anyone know if a JCB card works yet, or is webmoney still the only option?

I wish I could get a card that lasts more than 2 years, but my bank won't issue the 12 year ones. Thus I am stuck trying to update the info right now, and the support centers are closed.

Any chance I could get some help getting WebMoney from one of you? SuTo Corp is saying they are out of stock for 1-2 weeks, and my card may deactivate on the first of April, leaving my account permanently unrecoverable. Otherwise I need someone in Japan to lend me their address so the bill can be mailed out and I can send money via PayPal to have it paid. JOnnyram used to do a service called Ramnix where he'd supply a legit JP address to use, but I found out about it too late and he had already quit FFXI for a bit. I have means to pay, via PayPal and such, just can't get this game to take what I have available.

EDIT: Goofed the quick Reply box trying to do an edit.

Anyone have feedback on kanetrade.com for purchase of WebMoney? They have some in stock, and cost a bit more than SuTo Corp, but take credit card as payment. Also, am I going to have to do any extra billing information editing to get it to bill my WebMoney account for the new mini-expansion, which I just bought a code for right before checking the mail and finding my new card? I'd deactivate my IDs right now if I hadn't have purchased that, as it would save the trouble until I found a billing solution.

Deactivate your account now. If it slips into billing for April and they can't charge your card, you are indeed screwed unless you can get a legitimate address and someone to pay the bill for you.

I already thought about deactivating, but my card will still be billed because I purchased a code for Crystalline Prophecy about an hour before I checked my mail and found the new card. EIther way, my card is getting billed, and thus my account locked. I'm hoping ElmerThePointy will see my email and be able to help me before the registration maintenance. Otherwise, I have a couple other help requests asking for a WebMoney card or use of an address. There's nothing I can do otherwise since I bought that code and I can't undo the charge.
