So this is out now, as in, you cna download it now?
Edit: nvm, found it. Does it have the ability to minimize to the task bar?
google.com/chrome/
Totally aside from the interesting technology, the comic format of the presenation was fantastic. My knowledge of computer programming and networking ended after first year CompSci courses, but I found all of the concepts in Google Chrome extremely easy to understand. Kudos to the communications team who put this together, this is seriously excellent work.
Edit: No surprise, but once I got to the end I was delighted to see Scott McCloud behind the visuals.
Work firewall has screwed me. Chrome won't load any pages lol.
You probably just need to configure it to connect through your proxy
They didn't talk about Adblock. They were trying to get firefox users.
Honestly, the way it's outlined, I'd switch to Chrome immediately if it had adblock, but I find Adblock to be unlikely. You see, ads are google's prime business. That is their moneymaker. Even if there is an adblock, what do you think the chances are that it will block google ads?
That's the answer I'm looking for
If it's open source and has a plugin API (the answer to both of those is "yes"), you can most certainly block their own ads. They aren't stupid, they know that if they limit functionality like that, their browser will never win over the power users out there. They also know that even if they allow for AdBlock, 95%+ of their users won't know how to use it/install it anyways, so they won't lose squat for revenue.
Bugger, I can't get Flash player to install b/c of administrator privelages here at work. I managed to work around that for Firefox by manually extracting the .xpt file and the associated DLL into the Firefox /plugins/ directory, but the same trick doesn't seem to work for Chrome.
lol, apparently this does work, I just forgot the NPSWF32.dll file
Therefore, if you are having difficulty installing plugins due to administrator privelage problems with the installers, manually plunking in the extension files from other browsers tofolder.Code:Chrome\Applications\Plugins
i love the task manager inside of chrome. so far i'm really impressed.
This runs too fast for my tastes lol. I'm using it now. Maybe I'm just not used to it.
Edit; Holy shit, you can expand this text window with it. This is some neat stuff.
Using it now... I don't like how my middle mouse button doesn't work for scrolling up/down when holding it down. =(
But seriously...

See Dezzi's post for Firefox/Chrome times.
Yeah I just remembered that IE exists about 2 minutes ago, pretty clunky. I'm curious to see exactly what the differences between the engines are that causes such varying performance.
Edit: I actually just went there and got a popup three or four times saying "A script is causing IE to run slow, would you like to disable scripts for this page?"
no scroll wheel is a deal breaker
I guess I have to keep in mind that this is the very first beta release, lol. I'm sure they'll patch/add a whole bunch of things and to be honest, I'd consider switching should certain plugins and features become available. For now, I'll stick with Firefox.
EDIT: Err, I just looked at memory usage... with 3 tabs open (and one of them being about:memory), the browser as a whole is taking 90mb+. >_> It's not a huge deal seeing as I have plenty of system RAM, but it's a personal thing... so they're going to have to fix that too.
I'm using XP and it's got Vista style window frame ;o
Anyway, I love it at the moment. Too bad there are no plugins (it just got released today after all). I'd switch right now if adblock plus comes out.
It's amazing - love the task manager!
Now what I want to know about incognito mode is if images are saved into your temporary internet history folder.
Basically I want to know if I can read the Random Image Thread at work without getting nasty stuff on my HD or cached images sticking around after the browser closes.
