Default First Impressions

I'm pretty sure a few of you guys have the final game on hand (I know I do). Aside from reviews, I'd like to hear peoples first impressions on the game.

Mine:

I've only completed The Gardens levels, and up to this point I'm really impressed. I'll be honest and tell you that I was *really* skeptical before buying this game, even with all the hype...but after playing it, I could see it definitely lived up to the hype. One of the first things that stood out to me was the simplicity of the controls walk/run, jump, grab. Definitely takes me back to the old school Mario games, which I have most definitely missed. Oh, the levels have 3 layers in them which you can move about yourself, as well as have it automatically do it for you...at first I thought this was going to be problematic, but it actually works really well, and I've yet to run into problems. There's so much u can interact with, you can grab on to things, push/pull, use jet-packs...its pretty crazy. I've yet to thoroughly mess with the create a level function, but it seems to be really deep. The "Pop-It" bubble has so many options, its pretty crazy to fathom everything you can do with it.

Anyways, as I said I haven't played to much with it...but from what I've experienced thus far its a great game! Go ahead and share your impressions...or if you have any questions, I'll gladly answer them as well!

Mind checking the online search feature? There were rumors that the recalled discs may have that disabled (Or MM may not open their server until the new release day)

This is correct. MM stated this on their blog a while back too.

I wouldn't worry too much. He just wasn't tough enough to endure the wait.

Does this count as a first impression? If it's any indication of how good some of the levels we'll be seeing are then this game is going to be amazing.

Wow Kiarax... that was damned nice looking. The music alone has me the most excited. I didn't use much in my Beta levels because the few songs really didn't suit my levels.

I really wonder if the full game has a bit more space as far as the thermometer goes, as some of my levels were filling up rather fast and he has more than a few switches in his level. GREAT level, i can't wait to check it out.

I haven't seen anything to indicate the thermometer is any bigger in the retail version, everything seems about the same as the beta, sans the fact that the sackboys are a little more animated when they stand idle for too long.

And you no longer have to shake the jetpack off, instead it is just "Press O to remove" which i thought was a nice change.

Loving the Story Mode! I played for quite a bit this weekend, after getting it Saturday afternoon. I have 100%+Ace on all Areas EXCEPT the last two. There are a few sections in the last two areas that require 4 people =( So once the servers go up we need to start hitting those and get people some hard to get items!

I played up until the 2nd to last level and i can already tell that Acing it is going to be a BEAST...

Spoiler: show
I think the level is called Bunker? Or perhaps the one right after it... anyway, near the end there is the massive rotating 'maze'. I tried a good 5 times last night to get through it without dying and MAN it is rough.

My initial plan was to get 100%-Ace on everything before I start creating, just so i have all items, but i don't know if i will be able to control my rage if i have to keep trying the last few areas =P

Over all? Amazing game, and well well worth the purchase.

EDIT: Guess codes are still not up yet, which makes sense if the actual content isn't activated on PSN yet.

I would imagine so. Speaking of acing the levels, so far I've been able to do all of the two person levels in the first three areas by myself with some fancy finger moving. Thank god they got the servers running because if you need four people for the later ones like you said then I'm going to need some help as no one comes over to my place and plays.

Should I play now/tonight or wait until the codes are active... can't decide...

Can you not beat certain lv's w/o more ppl... or just that you need 3-4 ppl to get everything in some lv's?

You should be able to beat every level by yourself. Just "need" multiple people to get all items.

In just about every level there are sections that require 2-4 people (mostly 2 person, one 3 person, and two 4 person areas) to get "into". They aren't necessary to finish the level, just necessary to get 100% collection rewards.

Some of the items in those areas are a bit cooler? Costume parts, etc. For the most part my 5 year old daughter has been helping me with those areas. She is actually much better at it than my old lady... sheesh.

Played for a couple hours the other day and I love it. Music is awesome, game is beautiful and the physics engine is AMAZING. Can't wait until I get enough items to start creating some sweet levels. I can tell this is well worth the money.

Yeah.

Somehow Acing everything turns a mildly difficult game into an insidious death machine, especially the last two worlds. Closest I've gotten to acing the final boss was losing one life. The only way I can see it being possible to ace that is beating him before he starts doing the omgwtf rain of electrical bars.

Yeah, i got about that close also. I think i can pull his level off, and the one before Bunker... but foooooooooook... Bunker is a bastard and a half. I am getting a bit better at the Wheel o Death, but surely if i Ace it up until that point and make it through... I will die on something stupid after it and combust in rage.

I know the feeling. It seems like whenever I get past the hardest part of a level, something insanely dumb happens and kills me. I've had stuff that's never killed me before kill me, and things I could never imagine happening happen.
