First time playing this one and its fucking awesome, but theres one little FUCKING part that is ridiculously bullshit.
The area where your stuck in a basement-like place and the only way up is by wall jumping to the top. At the bottom of this pit there are those 3 little alien guys that try to show you that you walljump up. Now I've watched like 20+ videos on walljumping. And yes I have been able to do it, maybe 1-2 consecutive times IF I'm lucky. I mean its supposed to be simple right? Jumproll against a wall and as soon as your are near it, press the direction opposite of you and hit jump again quick? Everytime I do this you can see Samus get into the "ready to push off" position. But then she fails and falls to the bottom... Anyways anyone else have any tips, or am I just fucked. I've seriously been trying to get out of this pit for over an hour -.- |

I had the same problem back when I first started playing, and could never really figure it out, so I just reloaded back to my save. I finally got really good at it later on.
IIRC you have to hit the jump button and the opposite direction at the same time. It takes a lot of practice, but when you get good at it, you can get some items early that you can't normally get before you have the high jump boots. I think it is also required to get the Spring Ball and miscellaneous missile/power bomb upgrades. You can always try bomb jumping out, but that will probably take longer to do if you aren't good at that. |

I think somehow you've over complicated the necessary motion to wall jump. As far as I can recall from the last time I played, you just jump and push away from the wall at the same time, sort of like wall jumping in a Megaman X game. The only real advice there is is practice makes perfect, but I sure don't remember the control input to do it being nearly as complicated as you made it sound.

The wall jump in Super Metroid is ludicrously easy once you understand the mechanics of how it works. In order to wall jump you have to be rolling towards the wall you intend to jump from and you have to initiate the wall jump just after reaching the apex of your jump. You press the direction pad to the wall that you're jumping to and the jump button.

Emulator or an actual SNES? Most SNES emulators have a cheat function built in, I'm sure there's some sort of code for jumping as high as you like by holding the button. If I remember correctly there's only a couple of points where you actually need to wall jump anyway.

Actually, the proper way to walljump is not what people are saying here. Yes, you need to be spinning in the air before you jump. HOWEVER, you want slightly different timing. When you hit the wall, press the direction you want to jump in. You will notice Samus breifly (and yes, very briefly) latch onto the wall and face the direction you are about to jump. It is during this timeframe that you jump.
If you try to jump and press the direction at the same time, depending on when you attempt to do it, you will have a higher failure rate, whereas the way I've shown you will ensure success once you understand how it works.

I firmly remember that part in the SNES Super Metroid. It just takes wall jumping practice, I remember playing around for over 10 minutes until I finally got out of that pit. but the wall jumping alien-birds are cute!

That pit is among my top 10 most-hated videogame memories, I almost gave up Super Metroid because of it. Of course, wall-jumping became second nature once I figured out how to do it, but until then... ugh.
