Like the title says, I'm getting sick of my Wii. Nothing on it that I play besides Brawl (and a dwindling list of people that still play). As far as I know, there aren't any main games on the Wii that are coming out anytime soon that will hold my interest.
I'm mostly curious if I should trade in now or wait until closer to Christmas time, when there's usually better deals to be found. Also, my playtime is pretty limited to only weekends having full time work and school. So, I'm wondering with that kind of playtime, should I just be patient with my Wii or go for the PS3? |

You'll have way more games to play on a PS3 or 360 but I'd say PS3 since it's beginning to pick up the pace. There's a bunch of great exclusives coming out (LBP, White Knight Chronicles, Resistance 2, etc).

Yeah, and that's why I'm really starting to consider the PS3. I'd just need to play some catchup with Metal gear and Devil May Cry. Little Big Planet looks like it'll be a lot of fun, as well as the up coming games like Naruto and Final Fantasy, God of War. And I hear there might be a sequel to Shadow of the Colossus?
Another question I have is which PS3 would be recommended for someone not interested in backward compatibility? |

The only real difference I see in the current SKUs (PS3) is hard drive size, so I don't think it matters much.
My only advice if you want to sell your Wii is to wait for the Christmas rush, you should be able to still get decent Ebay money, and it will give you time to do your research on which system you want instead. Since the 360 and PS3 share so many titles you want exclusives. Right now 360 is the only system that I consider to have a satisfactory RPG library for me, surprisingly. I don't like paying for Live, and even though it's mostly gone now, the RRoD thing will affect many used 360s still. Besides that, though, I consider it to have the best overall mixture of titles. Everything from GoW2 to Fable 2 to Braid on XBL. I really don't know your tastes to list titles though so I won't bother. PS3 also has Blu-Ray if you care about that for watching movies. Base your purchase ONLY on what has already been announced/available for the system, NOT on sequels that haven't been shown/revealed yet, because those games could literally go to any platform this gen still as of right now. |

There is only one model right now that you can buy new that that is the 80 gig. The new 80 gigs are 399 and do not have backwards compatibility. I am pretty sure that the there was a 120 or a 160 rumor but they aren't on sale yet.
If you want to go the refurbished route: gamestop refurb prices You can purchase a 1 year warranty from gamestop for 50 bucks or so. I bought a 60 gig w/ the warranty (I wanted Backwards Compatibility) and have had no problems with it. I have had it for about 6 months. Edit: I bought a 320 gig hd for my ps3 for 80 bucks and swapped them out no issues. Due to how easy and how cheap they are to swap out I personally wouldnt base my decision on hard drive space. All and all it comes down to if you want a new one, or you can handle a refurbed. If you go the refurbished route, its almost worth buying a 60 gig just because of the features that it has (media card reader, 2 extra usb ports, backwards compatibility) As for the Wii, you might want to hold off on selling it till closer to Xmas, I am not sure if people will be able to find Wiis around that time and you might be able to get 100 bucks more for it if they cant find them.

What D: I'm still deciding if I will or not
Brp: Not really, my comp is an 8 year old laptop that has a max of 40 gigs, with 6 gigs left of space. I only use it to play Starcraft or the original Sims.

Gamestop's probably going to be my only option. I've got the Wii + 7 Games + recharge station to sell to them. Going to take a quick visit there now and see what I could get for all that.

I'd recommend using ebay over gamestop, you'll get ripped off at gamestop. Then wait til November when all the deals start coming for a new $300-$350 PS3. |

Just came back from Gamestop. They say with all my stuff I'm looking at ~$250 for the trade in. Clerk told me I'd be better off waiting until November to put it all on Craig's List or Ebay like some others said above.

Yeah, in my experience you never get even as close to as much trading it in as you could selling it on ebay.
While we're on the subject, this is kinda creepy because I was just about to make a thread about trading in my Wii as well....But I'd probably just get a psp or something since I don't really feel the need to have a next gen console at the moment. |

The wii doesn't have anything but trash games, just look at the list present and future. The best route would be to ebay or maybe CL it (never used the latter). No way you'll get a PS3 for it though.

Obviously. Clerk said I could get upwards of $500 bucks if I wait for the Christmas rush to post it on Ebay or CL.
I mean if I were impatient enough I could still sell it now and at least have half the PS3 paid for, but waiting a month to get double the cash sounds better.

Never ever ever ever trade in systems at Gamestop/EB, unless you enjoy getting a much lower value. You should really even avoid trading in games. Ebay will fetch much more $$ if you're patient.

Good call the Wii has fuck all coming out for it. I'd take a PS3 or 360 over Wii any day if you're actually a gamer. I'd sell the Wii on E-bay as opposed to trading it in, you'll get way more for it.

I got a ps2 old xbox and a Ds I want to trade in but gamestop would probably only give me 60$ >
My sister got a Wii and even know I can play it whenever I don't get much play out of it. I find the wii only good for casual gaming. I love my ps3, I'm playing it right now. It has a lot of nice games for it and a built in blu ray and you can check ur mail on it :3 |
