Needs its own thread.
Trailer's Out. Fucking ridiculously pretty game for a DS title. It looks as good as VIII did. http://kotaku.com/5064337/here-is-th...ix-tgs-trailer |

The CS's look like a mix of real time w/pre-rendered (i.e Cell shaded) backgrounds akin to how FF8 did things. But they really made that trailer seem very CS heavy (w/will be an amazing thing if its true) in how it panned to cell shaded stuff for bar scene, mobs, ect... a lot of stuff you wouldn't do if your production values weren't through the roof.

Certainly does look pretty good.
I think the Dragon Quest experience should translate better to a handheld too, where its 20 year old gameplay is much less of an issue to me.

I'd like to point out that I recently played through DQ8 for the second time and enjoyed it, but I can understand why many would prefer a less anachronistic style of both gameplay and plot design.

I didn't buy Blue Dragon for my console because I don't like sitting in front of a console for 6+ hours anymore.
I'd buy DQ IX because I can suspend/resume my handheld at any time. I hope they never put a DQ game on a console again |

I originally thought this would be a major step down from DQ8 on ps2, and while losing the 3-D graphic shinyness of DQ8 does bum me out a bit, the trailers so far make me pretty excited. Playing DQ4 made me realize what was said earlier, that the somewhat dated gameplay mechanics of the DQ series translate pretty nicely to a handheld. Can't wait for this ;o
