Star Ocean 2 and Symphony of the Night are much better PS1 RPGs.

Play the game at least before you say that. I have played both of those games, great games but inferior to this.

Persona 1 was a good game, but I really feel that Persona 2 improved upon some aspects of it.

An Innocent Sin patch is definitely worthwhile. Although Eternal Punishment fixed some of the annoying issues with Innocent Sin (that were honestly minor), I really feel that innocent sin was the stronger of the two games storywise.

Awesome patch, thanks for the link to this.

For those of you who have no idea what the game looks like the translator made a cool little trailer for it.

Does this take place before/after EP? (Haven't played EP yet, dunno which to play first)

It takes place before EP. Atlus used the excuse of EP explaining the events of IS good enough to not warrant a localization. Which is complete b/s there are a few things left out and I also think IS is vastly superior.

I'd just like to point out that I see Symphony of the Night as a multi-genre game, and as such ineligable for comparison with pure RPGs.

I agree, it's a completely different game. That comparison was pretty laughable.

But SotN is one of my all time favorites, the music, gameplay, storyline all just win too hard. Even the voice acting is awesome in it's own unique way.

I'd also like to point out... that you should really try this game.

Those that don't like harder RPG games, stay away. If you thought Persona 3 was difficult then this game will probably make you rage so hard. It's really not so bad once you know where to get the right tarots and make the right Persona.

Does that mean "get 89, make Lucifer and oneshot the rest of the game" or "make a 5-part fusion, teach it sukukaja and get a slightly easier second half of the game"? (note that I'm assuming the fusion system still exists in some form)

Can what? Make Lucifer for the postgame or make something else decent midgame with enough effort? I was asking you to clarify what you meant by "the right persona" in terms of an analogy with P3.

You can make Lucifer near the end of the game, or if you grind enough possibly mid game since you don't need Social Links or time to pass, and yes it's broken here is a video posted by Gemini himself:
