Default The future of the Pit

On Midgar, interest in the Pit is dying fast. There are 30-something people there now, and half of them are bazaaring. My last six matches have been against "no one".

The system for fighting against a game-run mob is a bit buggy. If you get paged and no one is signed up against you, check who you're fighting against and it will list a level 20 mob. You have to check again, once the fight starts, to see its real level.

The mob gets a random name and random species and seems to have no abilities at all. Easy win!

The level always seems to be within 1-2 of yours, higher or lower. My friend (level 50) actually fought a level 51 mob because of that.

Nice and fast XP in the low level cages!

Bahamut's pit is still pretty packed. At peak times the cages are likely to be full.

That's just because Midgard is a dead server ;/ but interesting information.

Pandemonium's Diablo cage is full 87 min at peak times, or as low as 60 min during non-peak times. The other cages can go as low as 3-6 mins at non-peak (middle of a weekday) to 30 min at peak times.

Diablo hit a low of 18 minute wait today (non-peak, midday). Was quite nice.

Midgar NPCs, "Oh god, here comes BRP. Quick, double the wait! Double the wait!"

Tossed my pet yesterday , lvl48 because despite the abilities or things I set on it, it's never won a match anywhere, I went to 48 entirely on losses.

I don't really care, and in retrospect time would have been spent better elsewhere , lol. Oh well

Some pets just don't work out. My first one sucked -- he lost to things five levels under him. Second one rocked (go go go bunny!), third one was meh. I guess it comes down to if you enjoy it, and if you're into stuff for your moghouse. (I'm only keeping up with this because one day there will be some kind of championship for those horn things for your MH, the things that were in the dats in the last update. First, second, and third place champ items.)

I bet interest will just keep falling, so if you do change your mind and want to speed a mob to 50, it shoud be easier.

Some pets suck until level 50. My wifes doom toad lost almost all its matchs until level 50, and now it can swing wins in the D cage and hang with the best of them.

Well, the patch notes that introduced Pankration did say not to discount a monster if it performs weakly at low levels, and to wait until it's had a chance to grow and see what it can do.

I fear giving SE too much credit, but I assume the content will be expanded and fixed a bit in the next update; it does actually make sense to run it for a while and give people the chance to experiment with different lvl 50 monsters before running contests and such. On my server it's much more popular in JP time, it may still be 50 people or less on a weekday but it's the same people and they keep the wait timers middle-ish to high. I have gotten no opponent matches with 3 minute wait time during NA time though, especially before 7PM EDT.

Wow. It's amazing how different servers are. (Besieged comes to mind as well, Midgar lost weekly until the latest nerf.) Over the weekend, roughly 90% of my matches had a 3 minute wait. (Or so the NPC claimed. 3 minutes translates to 6-9 minutes realtime.)

Yeah, I've had a couple 51s now too, but my webhosting is down so I couldn't post them. *prods icon and sig*

Edit: Spelling.

I wonder what people thought when they saw your couple of 51s when checking on their opponent.

I'm probably whooshing but Lv.51 mobs are only possible when no one signs up to fight you.

If you're lucky enough to keep having no opponents, can you get to 52 (or higher) that way, too?

I have no idea, I've never not had an opponent vs my level 50 mob.

52 yep, but not higher. When no one's signed up, you get a mob 1-2 levels above or below you.

on Kujata during NA hour you'll see around 20-30ppl in the Pit all together, most are bazaaring in Anhialation(sp) or Diablo. The wait at non tourny cages is normally 3-9minutes (min is peak NA times), Diablo normally 6-66min (66 is peak NA times). JP times the Diablo cage is normally 87 minutes all the time, no spamming to get in though, the other cages vary from 12-24minutes, Carnage is ALWAYS the shortest wait time.

My suggestion to take advantage of things is to have two pets, level one almost exclusively, when you que that pet up and get paired with an opponent not worth the time, swap pets, and get 100xp on your other pet, so the time isnt wasted. This also tends to make ppl go to a different cage, cause no one other than level 50s want to get 5XP even during low que times. I have also notice that JP will cure a mid 40 pet and change it at the last second to a lv8ish pet to if they are pairewd with a lower pet so they get better XP for something, wich is where the idea came from. You can withdrawl from a match as long as there is still a match before yours that has not paged any one to the command areas. meaning Match3 fighting Match2 jerkin = you can cancle your fight, if match 2 is paged your stuck.

Would also suggest holding on to crapp lv50pets, for when the lv cap gets raised later on, the extra FP may make that pet better.

[some of this is off topic sorry, typing as i think]

I'll place money on SE making a stealth change to the 'no PC opponent' system. I've been fighting game-run mobs all day (20-30 matches) and every single one has been my exact level. I suspect they wanted to get rid of fights against level 51 and 52 mobs.

The other change is that now the game-run mobs sometimes have an ability (en-dark is the only one I see, about 1 in 4 has it).
