![]() So yeah, a level 49 leech with Phalanx and Damage resistance bonus was kicking my level 48 penglose ass and then all of the sudden it uses yawn and does like 700 damage. What the hell? I wish I was paying attention to the commands I gave it. Before this fight I just thought sleep doubled damage. I don't know what the hell happened here though. |

Did you hit it from the side/back?
My Orobon used to do Hypnic Lamp. When the enemy would run away it would be asleep with its back to me and I would one shot at that point.

Uh, I have attack +15%, additional ice damage (only like level 25 right now) and monk traits. It has innate speed bonus and hp +15%. Yes, I know my setup sucks and needs tweaked or possibly completely scrapped.

Phalanx absorbed a MUCH higher percent of your normal attacks considering how it is straight subtraction of the end result damage. Leeches tend to have high defense and apkallus have low attack, which means that the +1.0 pdif from critting could have done over double your normal damage. Then hitting a sleeping opponent is a huge bonus, then I presume you hit from behind or the side, which is another huge increase in pankration.
Add it all together and things make sense. |

Saw something similar with a wyvern that had ensleep. The enemy mob started to cast a spell. The wyvern got in 1 swing as it started to run to the side. The 1 hit slept it. The wyvern got to the side, and sit crit on it.
Its normal per hits were in the area of 80 a hit. Its slept side crit was 743. Sleep brings the pain. |

I'd rather derail my own topic than make another one.
I need help with my Apkallu build. I've got Additional Ice Damage at level 50 now and Monk Traits... and 26 free FP. I get slaughtered by most level 50 mobs and I have no idea what to do. He has a decent amount of HP but paper thin defense. I'd rather not ditch Ice Damage if possible but I will if I can't win with it. |

What you have on is fine, but you appear to lack a sub and any form of defense. I would suggest using one of these:def+15%/eva+15%/instant stoneskin/instant phalanx, or go take a few dozen apkallu pics until you start with some defensive or offensive traits (which is what I would do), then add a sub job and instant stoneskin with your current setup.
I find that most pets that people did not take the time to get some helpful innates on win rarely once they are lvl 50. |

When everyone (with the same mob) has the same FP, it's the innates that really make the difference. It's basically like having a whole lot of free FP to have a really useful innate, and often there's no way of overcoming that, other than starting with good innates.
