December Version Update Preview ( 11/17/2008 )
With the release of each version update, Vana'diel continues its transformation into an ever more adventurer-friendly realm. In staying true to this tradition, the development team is working hard on a host of adjustments and additions that will allow our players to focus on what they do best: adventuring! Chariot, Empress, and Emperor Bands To date, recharging these items required that adventurers call upon guard NPCs located within designated conquest areas and towns. Depending on their current job level, however, adventurers may find these areas to be a considerable time and distance away from their current base of operation. To address this inconvenience, West Aht Urhgan and Past Vana'diel are scheduled to be added to the list of rechargeable locations for the bands. The price of the service in these new locations will be consistent with that of existing areas. Treasure Coffers and Chests That these mysterious containers house an assortment of highly sought-after items such as artifacts and maps is no secret. Such is their popularity among adventurers that those who seek them wishing to acquire the aforementioned items are often left frustrated by others who have different spoils, namely miscellaneous items and gil, in mind. The December version update will see the respawn time for coffers and chests significantly cut specifically for those in the hunt for items such as artifacts and maps. Jeuno Recent adventurer lifestyle-related improvements made to town areas have focused mainly on the three nations. In light of current adventuring trends in Aht Urhgan and the recent influx of new adventurers, the spotlight has been cast once more upon Jeuno. Adventurers can look forward to the following changes during their visits to the duchy following the December version update: - The sales tax imposed on bazaars will be abolished in all areas of the duchy. - Teleportation to Aht Urhgan Whitegate will be available for mercenaries via the Salaheem's Sentinels representative NPC in Upper Jeuno. I doubt that's gonna change ... people are set in their ways by now. It'll always be the Rolanberry Mall to me.

Wait, you mean that Septimus's 300k+ Allied Notes and Atumre's 200k+ Allied Notes are finally going to be useful?! Yay!
The only thing that sounds kind of bad about this update is that certain zones (Castle Zhval and Newton Movalpolis in particular) are already lousy with RMT who run around picking the coffers the second that they are up. If the STF cracked down on this, it would be pretty awesome. And I wonder where the new mall will be now? All over the fountain in Lower Jeuno I guess.

If they're scattered across all 4 zones I'll be slightly unhappy... maybe they'll just stay, I mean, not like anything will happen to them eh?
brb training Simurgh over Upper jueno teleport to whitegate is very very nice. The other 2 isn't that useful, helpful but my homepoint is in my home nation anyway as I can get to anywhere within ease.

Good to know SE is still reading the suggestions. Interested to see how the lower coffer respawns will work. |

My reading of the chest/coffer situation is that they are revamping the system to spawn more rapidly specifically for players trying to get map/af... What that probably means in reality though, is that chest respawns more quickly, but you have a hidden cool down on how often you can open for pure treasure (like every 2hrs or something). In the alternative, special chests will spawn that can only be opened if you do not yet have the map or have AF quest flagged. |

Everyone should just move their bazaars to upper jeuno near the NPC there. Put Silver Coins in for round trip people to get them early and tons of other bazaar goods. Newb stuff for sale too would be a wise idea.

I am surprised to notice the change for chests and coffers. Are they really still a problem? I guess I haven't had the pleasure of being screwed by RMT or anything, but this is the first I've heard of this in like... 2 or more years. If SE wants to repopulate Jeuno and the cities they need to worry about content. CONQUEST, CONFLICT, various of areas full of empty spaces and unused exp camps, stuff like Eco-Warrior and Garrison? Remember those? The game's low-game and mid-game content needs repair. And the Middle Lands could use some more end-game content too. |

If it was the first idea that may have been taken from Suggestions I would agree with you. |

To the people worrying about artifact vs normal treasure on coffer picks, they'll probably do:
1) Automatic coffer respawn on a successful opened coffer with Artifact/Map. 2) Automatic coffer respawn on a successful THF picked coffer with Artifact/Map. 3) 25~45 min respawn on an opened/picked coffer for treasure. (like normal) 4) Automatic coffer respawn on killed Mimic. (like normal) I can't see them making it hard for others that love to treasure hunt, only stupidly easy for people to get their AF and gtfo without coffer camping conflicts (like in Quicksand Caves or in Garliage Citadel). Though it seems stupidly obvious, and I have no idea why I typed so much text now. Yay for Jeuno to Aht teles! |
