Final Fantasy 14 – NEWS

News about the FF 14 events:

“Finally the Gamescom is opening today. And there are going to be a lot of new releases. But the biggest surprise is probably going to happen at the Square Enix booth. You will get the chance to be one of the firsts to exclusively play an alpha version of Final Fantasy XIV. On every public day there are going to be 6 Final Fantasy XIV events at the Square Enix booth. There is going to be a presentation and after that 3 sets of 12 player being able to play for 15 minutes. If you want to make sure that you are going to one of the lucky persons, arrive early at our booth in Hall 6 Booth B54 and ask us for an event ticket. So make sure you are there early“

Update 8:10 AM EST
Statement from FFXIV CORE DOT COM!

• Currently you can't jump, but a developer told me they are considering to add it
• I wasn't able to find water just yet, so not sure if you can swim
• I will have an interview up tomorrow Thursday
• The combat system is interesting, reminds you of FFXI, you select a target with TAB, then take up your weapon with F and X locks on it. Then use the numbers from your hotbars to use abilities. The first two abilities I had generated combat points to use the AOE attacks etc, I'll get back on what class I played later
• Game is polished, very smooth combat and performance
• It was played on a PC (I think), with mouse and keyboard
• I did a kill mob quest, kill 6 peacock-like creatures, they were very easy to kill

Update 6:50AM EST:
Bows are equipped like normal weapons!!
Version playable is in german, so localization seems to be far at this point.

Curious about LP, TP returns but in a different format somehow (video shows guy with 3000TP). Both chars had MP so mana *may* be related to growth by individual character progress on mage jobs (this is my own speculation).

Compass seems to be a reskinned FFXI compass.
