    Skillup Rate Improvement

    EDIT: Since some people don't get it, this thread is about the following patch note:
    The rate at which combat and magic skills increase during low and middle levels has been adjusted.
    I have 161 Enhancing and 152 Healing on my 59 WHM. These are skills that normally skill up VERY slowly (unless healing offensively on undead, of course).

    There is no doubt in my mind that the skillup boost is affecting me at these levels. I am seeing a massive improvement.

    What really got my attention was that my very first casting of buffs (Prot 3, Shell 3, Reraise 2) immediately netted me 0.3 enhancing and 0.3 healing.

    Anyway the point of this post is that the "low to mid levels" definitely goes past the 150 mark, so (speculation inc) it probably stops at 200 skill.

    I've gotten 1.4 levels of parrying just dicking around in sea serpent grotto over the course of an hour or so (started at 110, at 112 now), so I'd say it's a HUGE boost. Also 3.something levels of marksmanship from 173 to 176

    Not to piss on anyone's parade but occasionally parrying will just shoot up like that. My fiancee went from 214-216 in one round of bombs that drop Smoky Flask (7 I think). I'm not saying you're wrong by any means, but I think it's going to need more than an hour testing to show it.

    Massive improvement. I went to Kuftal on my SAM 63 with Polearm. Started at 169 and in an hour-hour and a half I got to the 60 cap of 196. No skillup session has been that effective. I think it will turn out that your skill at 60 is when the boost wears off. I also got over 2.0 of parry in that time and 3 or so Archery from pulling.

    Level 75 War/Dnc skilling up club: 2 crabs fought so far, skill went from 134-150 in under 20 minutes. Using Brass Jadagna.

    Well now that you mention it... right after maint I did get a 0.3 skillup on parrying in Dynamis while on sam...I remember thinking zomgwtf.

    Maybe getting to cap on SMN skill wont be such a ass breaker.

    Well, I guess at some point I need to fire up the SMN-mobile to see if there is any change. If I get a skill up more than once every 1-2 hours, then we will know that there is a change.

    The sad part is that I am barely exaggerating. >_>

    It just took me a whole week (3+ hours a night, and like 5 on Sat.) to cap shield on PLD from 220 with a sipar fighting mandies.

    lol this would be why mine isn't capped yet! Only chances I get to skillup is at Cerberus or Khim.

    Shield is a little more delicate. At least you took the right route and got yourself a Sipar, and fought mandies. It took me about 3-4 solid days of going to the den of rancor and fighting puks, shield skill + items help the process of course.

    Just another thing all these new pld's get given to them!

    The enhancement from the patch only affects low to mid levels. You should not have expected any improvement when going from 220 to cap.

    The patch has given a massive improvement for previously difficult-to-raise skills like enhancing, healing, and apparently parrying and guard.

    But it only appears to go up to about 200 (rough educated guess).
