Out of all the things to be sent to jail for the very first time in your FFXI Career, this imo is probably the most retarded one....

Quick story:
I'm doing regular currency shopping in rolanberry /shouts, and /tells, nothing out of the ordinary. This is like 4:30am my time, so I'm pretty much on the verge of passing out, but I wanted to get as much currency as possible before I go to bed. Someone sent me a tell saying they had 4 O.Pieces in which they would sell to me.

No matter how small it may be, I'm always grateful towards people that sell me any currency so I decided to give him extra gil more than what I normally go for. So instead of 12k each, I offered him 12.6k for those 4 O.Pieces. We opened trade menu, I gave him the gil, we closed trade. We bowed to each other, and went our separate ways.

The next day(Saturday), my linkshell and I were in the middle of camping Aspid, and then the unexpected happens.......I got sent to jail......

And lol at the other player "thinking it would be easier if you both spoke JP" If he knew enough english to offer you O. pieces and if he could remember you well enough to make a gm call on you, then he could have sent you a tell himself when he realised what happened.

This GM shit is getting more and more retarded by the day. That ban thread over in Standard is even worse. People getting LM-17 for lagging and autojail thinking they're poshacking, people who get banned with no warnings for being 'suspected' of RMT activity with no proof whatsoever, etc.

I appreciate that they are cracking down on RMT big time, but to catch so many legit players in the crossfire is ridiculous and needs to stop.

GMs have done this before. Someone put a Scorpion claw in bazaar for like 1m and someone bought it. The guy was GMed and forced to give the money back. If you make an agreement between another player, and it can be found in the chatlogs, and you screw it up somehow, GMs can jail.

I called GM before in past and ask them along the lines, "If I lend player 'x item' for event, and they agree to return it(in chat) after event was over, but does not return item, can you(GM) act on this? The GM mention, if you can provide the date/time/zone and no more then 7 days from when the chat conversation/agreement occur, then the GM can follow up and confiscate the item from person and return it to your inventory.

That is of course if that player ever logs in again.
