Compiling data for Dyna-Tav

I'm trying to find out if the nightmare mobs have a split table of -1 drops. From comparing to another person's data, it definitely seems so, but I want to get sum moar data to see if it's not just a fluke or anything.

So basically, if you do Tav, or still have memory of what nightmare mob dropped what -1 AF legs/body, post here!

Run last night gave BLU -1 and BRD -1 legs from bees. Oddly enough they dropped from the same bee.

So just from this small sample, we're seeing the same crap off of these mobs already, and nothing new so far. Need moar cluster/makara infoz

I've seen smn -1 legs from bees and rdm body -1 from clusters

Looks to me that there's be an even split, but BLU COR PUP (and soon SCH DNC) can be placed anywhere.

We've just gone once and our data matches what you have so far. WAR & BLU -1 Legs, both from Bees.

it's also possible that a specific mob can only drop a small assortment of gears. i can't think of any mob that has a droptable of 23 items (20 jobs, 3 currency types) so i've always wondered if certain mobs only had the capacity to drop certain drops. if that were the case, the bees in the other tunnel and the repops could drop different items from the ones normally killed. obviously this is pure and complete conjecture, but this could also be a valid explanation for seeing the same items from the same mobs.

Tried some Makara today but only got 1 drop, MNK -1.

you misunderstand. the conjecture is that in a cluster of 3 mobs, there could be 1 mob that drops 5 jobs and 3 different kinds of currency, the next mob that drops 5 jobs and 3 different kinds of currency and the third just like the first two, with no 2 mobs in the pull dropping the same kind of af2. i've noticed, though this may just be imagined, that the same pulls like to drop the same drops. now, when you're plowing through dozens upon dozens of mobs in a dynamis, this conjecture would be hard to test without some dat swaps and meticulous record keeping. if, however, instead you only pull 8 of those mobs the whole run, it would be much more apparent if individual instances of a mob were only capable of dropping a subset of the complete set of af2.

I'm certain that over years of doing Dynamis, people have encountered getting multiple of the same AF to drop within different enemies in the same pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a picture recently of a group in Dynamis-Tavnazia encountering this with a Duelist's Chapeau (here).

That aside, the system you're describing--in my opinion--would not be balanced with the way enemies are arranged in any zone without really stretching "linked" drop pools due to irregular group sizes and placement.

It's a lot easier to organize, reuse, and balance a simplified "drop table" that's of the form:

1) some % chance of AF or item from AF list1
2) some % chance of AF or item from AF list2
3) some % chance of item or item from item list3
4) some % chance of item in relic weapon list4
5) some currency function
...etc...

There's the "drop table" (Spekkio) and then an effective "table of drops" (Afrohatch) that can result depending on how you populate the lists that you attach to the table. If you're looking at the latter, you can get drop lists that are quite large.

We (DynamisBums) do Tavnazia on a somewhat regular basis; we'll mix up our targeting for a while and see if we get results supporting the separate lists.
